The majority of visitors to Zante every summer stay at the busy
and lively resort of Laganas.
The enormous bay (9kms) is ideal for sunbathing and enjoying a exciting
beach holiday.
Twenty years ago, Laganas was a small hamlet. Today it is home to
the largest and liveliest resort on the island.
This is not the place to come if you want a bit of peace
and quiet, Laganas can give many Balearic resorts a run for its
money on the nightlife front!
If you decide to stay in Laganas, it is worth booking well in advance
as the vast majority of the accommodation is block-booked by the
major travel operators.
In
Zante Guru's clubbing section
you'll find listings for nightlife in Laganas.
There's a club for every night of your stay and a bar for every
hour of the night (and morning if you stay the distance!).
Laganas offers you the largest beach on the island. Situated in a
protected zone, it is one of the natural habitats of the loggerhead
turtle.
The resort is lively from April to October and the entertainment
on offer continues from dusk til dawn. The bustling town is a haven
of bars, nightclubs and tavernas.
Food here mainly consists of junk food, snacks and local takes of
british food. Fine cuisine can be found closeby at Kalamaki
and public transport to Zakynthos Town
is very regular.
The town has the widest range of tourist based activities on the
island though watersports in the bay are severely restricted due
to ecological considerations.
There are three islands in the bay. The largest one, Marathonisi,
is accessible from Laganas by boat and has a secluded beach. The
smaller island, Ayios Sostis, is home to the Cameo club and has
a small beach. Final, Pelouzo, which is a large rock formation at
the northern end of the bay.
Laganas, the party capital of Zante!
