months are cooled by the northern prevailing wind, the Meltemi.
Zakynthos has a typically Mediterranean climate with moderate,
rainy winters and warm dry summers.
Due to the high level of rainfall in the winter, Zakynthos is
considerably greener than many other Greek islands and has a climate
favourable for the cultivation of olives, citrus fruits and vines.
Due to the geology of the island, Zakynthos has a number of underground
springs.
